The Hornets host lowly Chatham Town on Saturday before a run of four games against top sides in the Ryman League South Division.

The face Dorking Wanderers, Corinthian Casuals and Cray Wanderers all away, before hosting Hastings on November 26 in a run of Saturday-Tuesday games. While cautious of the challenge, Di Paola does now believe they have the makings of a good side, but must strive for consistency.

He said: “We have a really tough run now. One against Chatham, who are battling down the bottom, and then four of the top six, so a win on Saturday was a bonus.

“Points are vital, but we are a match for anyone. Whether we will beat everyone is a different matter, but we are a match now.

“We are an alright team, but it’s having the consistency to win a number of games in a row. We just have to get as many points as possible as quick as we can and then maybe at some stage relax and enjoy it, if we can!”

Horsham have added former Welling youngster Joe Smith to their ranks and Di Paola added: “It’s hard as we would like to get him a couple of games somewhere, but he lives up Greenwich way. It’s hard to put him out on loan.

“That’s the price we pay at this club at the moment. It’s boring that I keep saying it, but if we could go out and have an under-21s and put some in we could have a look at them.

“That would get confidence higher as well as it’s not easy going into these games not really having played. The only way we can get people fit and sharp is in games and that’s criminal.”
