Broadbridge Heath were punished for failing to add to Jake Holmes’ opener in a 1-1 draw against Mile Oak on Saturday

Heath were dominant throughout the first period, Jake Holmes gave Heath an early lead with a shot from the edge of the penalty area after just 2 minutes of play. Michael Wood almost doubled Heath’s lead two minutes later but his shot from the angle came off the crossbar with the goal keeper stranded, Heath winger Jamal Sultan was causing the visitors defence major problems down their left flank, on several occasions Sultan got round the defence and either shot at goal himself or set up goal scoring opportunities for his team mates, with both Holmes and Wood seeing their efforts go inches wide of the post and another Wood effort saved well by the Oak keeper but Heath just couldn’t add to their single goal advantage.

Heath’s second half tactics appeared to be to sit back and defend their lead, which looked to be working until midway through the second period when Liam Garrard converted a left wing cross past Heath’s keeper James Fisher to bring the scores level. Heath responded well, Sultan received the ball wide right cut inside the penalty area and crashed a shot against the crossbar.
