BROADBRIDGE Heath manager Steve Painter said his side had no excuses after fritttering away a glut of chances in Saturday’s Mid Sussex Cup loss to Cowfold.

County League Division 3 side Heath were dumped out 2-0, thanks to goals from Tom Whiting and Nigel Smith, which booked West Sussex League table toppers Cowfold a third round tie against Burgess Hill Albion.

While Cowfold were delighted with their scalp, Painter was livid with his side’s poor finishing.

He said: “No excuses. We have got to start finishing chances. If you are missing open goals like we were on Saturday you can have no excuses. We are in a bit of a rut in front of goal, I cannot blame it on one or two players, it’s five or six. But it was a cup game, we did not lose three points in the league and that is our priority.”
