MARK HAWTHORNE has resigned as manager of Horsham YMCA after only 12 games in charge.
Hawthorne quit just hours before YM’s penultimate game of the season, at home to title contenders Three Bridges on Easter Monday - a game they narrowly lost 1-0 to leave them in the bottom three on goal difference.
Hawthorne, who stepped up from his position as assistant manager when former boss Sammy Donnelly left to join Ringmer back in mid-January, collected just six points from a possible 30 in his short spell in charge.
He was reportedly absent for YM’s previous game, a 1-0 defeat at Hassocks on the Saturday.
Former Dorking manager Peter Buckland, who joined the YM coaching staff two weeks ago to assist Hawthorne for the run in to the end of the season, took charge against Three Bridges, and will also see out YM’s final game of the campaign at home to Crowborough Athletic.
