HENFIELD FC came from behind to win the Chichester Charity Cup after a hard-fought final against Capel at Arundel on Monday.
Aaron Barker saw a shot saved and Sam Witherden headed onto the bar before Capel broke the deadlock to take a 1-0 lead into half-time.
On a messy pitch affected by the heavy recent rainfall, Henfield drew level soon after the restart when big centre half Adam Price smashed home following a fumble from the Capel goalkeeper.
Henfield created further chances while at the other end, keeper Valentine brilliantly tipped Capel’s only real chance of the second half over the bar.
It stayed 1-1 until, in the 81st minute Steve Scott was fouled in the box and Tom Gander found the top corner from the penalty spot to hand Henfield the trophy.
The win caps a fine double-winning season for the Magpies, who will play in Division One of the West Sussex Football League next season after winning Division Two North.
