STORRINGTON FC humbled local rivals Steyning Town with 5-0 thrashing last night.
The Swans really took flight after James Davis had given them a 1-0 lead on the stroke of half time, and ran riot in the second half, adding four more goals. Mark O’Regan, Craig Grantham (two) and Jake Cockerton extended Storrington’s lead, and it could have been more if not for some last-ditch defending and a couple of saves from Luke Green.
Swans joint manager Nigel Dyer enthused: “I’m happy we scored a few and can a clean sheet which was important. But we looked pretty lethargic and if we had continually played our fast tempo it could have been a few more.
“It looked as if we had had a little too much to eat and drink over the Christmas period and it really showed first half.
“It was important to get a goal just before half-time, although after that all the time it was 1-0 they looked threatening from set pieces. So I was happy to get the second and we made a few changes formation wise and subs which settled us.”
