STORRINGTON reached the Sussex County League Division 2 Cup final last night courtesy of an extra time goal from Liam Humphreys.
The Swans substitute struck ten minutes before the end of the extra half hour to claim a 3-2 win against Rustington.
Luke Jearum’s headed opener at the end of the first half was cancelled out by two penalties from Rustington’s Matt Huckett. But Storrington hit back shortly after going behind with a beatutifully worked goal for winger Jake Cockerton.
With the scores tied at 2-2 going into extra time, Humphreys’ fortunate winner sealed it in the second period.
Manager Rick Hamilton said: “I think we got the right result. I thought the two penalites were wrong and I was really pleased with the commitment, even when it looked as if everything was against them they knuckled down.
“I’m just really pleased for the club, they deserve this.”
