Crawley Down Gatwick again missed out on possible points when losing Ringmer by a single goal.
Ex-Anvil Ant Storey tested Down keeper Seb Bos from a corner and Seb Saunders fired well over.
For the Anvils an early Ciaran Steers charge was blocked before Mo Shuga’a set-up Josh Alcock for a shot which was flew narrowly wide.
An Anvil breakthrough Grant Rigler and Steers set up James Upton to ghost his way through the visitors’ defence and cause ‘keeper Goodchild to push his shot away for a corner,
Hopes were high for the second half with the Anvils now kicking down the slope but it was the visitors who took over the running with first a Woodley shot being hacked away.
Defensive lynchpin Charlie Dodd got injured and was replaced by Jacob Wright.
The marauding visitors who were beginning to get up a head of steam and looking the more likely to score, and sure enough the inevitable happened on 65 minutes when a right wing cross had Bos diving to his right but not quite able to field the ball as it slipped through his hands to the waiting Hopkinson who joyfully drove home much to the delight of all the Ringmer fans.
