Cowfold brought the curtain down on their first season in the Southern Combination League last Thursday with a 3-0 win over Bosham.

It was sweet revenge against the side who five days earlier had ended any chances of Cowfold winning the Division 2 title, beating them comprehensively 2-0 in the away fixture.

It also saw Ant Parsons side complete the campaign with only one home defeat, against eventual champions AFC Varndeanians.

With 63 points on the board, Cowfold are hoping other teams below them drop points in their remaining games so they can finish as runners-up.

Fold started well and the break through was made on 12 minutes when a headed clearance fell to Greg Brabon who flicked the ball past the on-rushing keeper.

Bosham played some neat football without really troubling goalkeeper Phil Marshall and the home team still looked more threatening.

After 25 minutes, another mix up in the visitors defence allowed the ball to drop to Callum Nash eight yards out and he smashed home.

The lead soon became three as five minutes later, Marc Taylor ghosted into the box unchallenged and scooped the dropping ball over the keeper.

Bosham tried to whether the storm and started to keep the ball much better and a few dangerous crosses were whipped into the box, but Kyle Mitchell-Harris, Craig Deane and Lloyd Hatton commanded the backline.

The game hit a lull in the second half in an overall scrappy 45 minutes. Substitute Michael Brownlee immediately made an impact on 60 minutes, harassing the midfield.

Nash drove a chance wide whilst at the other end Marshall made a good save and the visitors also blazed one over. Nigel Smith headed wide, as did Mitchell-Harris from a corner, but Cowfold saw the game out comfortably.
