THE Sussex County Football League will apply to The Football Association to extend their season after another weather-hit weekend caused further turmoil to the fixture list.
Football has been at a premium across the county since late December, with clubs subjected to postponements owing to waterlogged pitches.
SCFL chairman Steve Nealgrove has admitted that possible dates to reschedule postponed fixtures are running out and that has meant they have been forced to follow in the footsteps of last season and ask for another week’s extension to the campaign.
He said: “The SCFL and several other leagues at Step 5 will be making representation to The FA this week to extend the playing season.
“We hope that the extension will be granted, as it has been accepted in the past when they have given a week extension.”
