JOHN Cumberbatch hopes his Horsham YMCA manager can capitalise on their first win under him this weekend at Faversham.
The Ryman Division 1 South’s basement boys shocked leaders Met Police on Saturday with a comfortable 3-0 win, although Cumberbatch believes YM may have lost the element of surprise with that win.
“We are hoping we can build on last week, but they are a good side who have done well since they came up,” he said. “It’s not going to be easy, we have not got that element of surprise. Met could have seen us bottom of the league and thought it might be slightly easier than it was.
“The players have told me there is a change in atmosphere and there is more of a buzz around the club.
“We have tried to instill confidence in people and get them as organised as possible.”
Cumberbatch hopes to be able to name a similar squad to that which beat the Met, if a number of ‘niggly’ injuries are overcome.
