MANAGERLESS Horsham YMCA were dumped out of the Sussex Senior Cup last night in a 6-2 defeat to a young and talented Brighton side.
Caretaker boss Dean Potter took charge of the match, YM’s first since Colin Jenkinson resigned this week, and although the Gorings mead outfit caused an early scare by going 1-0 the difference in fitness and skill showed in the end.
Tony Reid gave YM a 1-0 lead and after going 2-1 down Gavin Gordon headed home an Anton Douglas cross to bring the hosts level. But four goals in the final 25 minutes gave the scoreline a one sided appearance.
Potter said: “I have to credit my boys, they put a good shift in and that’s all I could ask for, it was a good performance.
“Brighton were a very good side and had a lot of good movement, and they were very fit, as you would expect.”
