Attwater is Heath’s hero in thrilling win

Centre back Dan Attwater was Broadbridge Heath’s hero as his brace inspired a come-back win against Littlehampton Town in Sussex County Legaue Division 2.

The entertaining win halted Heath’s four match losing run and put Steve painter’s men fifth in the table.

Against a Golds side who had lost just once in 19 games this season, it was defenter Dan Attwater who inspired a thrilling come-back.

Jake Holmes saw an early chance deflected over, but it was the visitors who took the lead when Michael Hendricks’ header buried a right wing cross. Chances continued to flow at both ends though and Stuart Chester was dnied from 25 yards while James Fisher’s diving save prevented the second at the other end.

Fisher was helpless from the resulting corner however, as George Gaskin drilled a finish low into the bottom corner.

Heath boss Steve Painter shuffled his pack at the break, and was immediately rewarded when Jamal Sultan picked out Attwater’s near post run for their first goal. And just three minutes later, the scores were level as Attwater volleyed home from the edge of a crowded box.

With the match now in the balance, Fisher was called into a fine save to tip a shot on to the bar, which allowed Holmes to bag the winner, coolly beating the keeper for his 12th in 11 games this season.

BBH: Fisher, Swaine, Chester, Ahearne (Miller 45mins), Attwater, Waddingham, Arthur, Wood Martin 80mins), Holmes (Pritchard 75mins).
