YMCA delighted with eight goal rout
Horsham YMCA returned to winning ways in emphatic style on Saturday, with an 8-0 thumping of AFC Uckfield.
A scintillating first half display, which included a fine hat trick from striker Elliott Romain set YM on their way against the Sussex County League Division 1 strugglers.
And having lost their last five games on the bounce, manager Peter Buckland was delighted his side were able to secure their first three points in the league since the end of October.
“It’s back to winning ways!” the YM boss exclaimed. “You can only beat what’s put in front of you, and we got the win today. We needed to stop the rot, and I think it will do the players the power of good now, so I’m well pleased.”
“Hopefully we can go on a bit of a run now, although the proof of the pudding will be against Loxwood on Tuesday night [in the Sussex Senior Cup].
“They’ll be no rollover, and will probably prove a much sterner test than what we faced today. It’s a local derby and it’ll be like a cup final for them, so they’re going to come here all fired up.
“If we can get through that one, it’ll be two wins back to back and then we can see where we go from there.”
