Steyning boss: ‘Big win was coming’

Steyning Town boss Richard Whittington declared a big win had been on the cards for his side in the wake of their 7-0 thrashing of Rustington.
Phil Williamson scored five goals as Steyning ended their eight game wait for a win in style against ten-man Rustington, with Murat Aslan and Adam Burton also on the scoresheet.
Whittington declared: “That result was always going to come at some point. We have been playing well but have not got the results but this time we got exactly what we deserved. Obviously the sending off had an impact on the game but I am convinced we would have still won the game convincingly even had it stayed 11 v 11. We had so many chances that we should have got into double figures.
“The strikers will take the plaudits but I want to also praise the defenders and goalkeeper for the clean sheet. They have taken a bit of flak recently because we have been conceding goals so they deserve some credit for this result as well as the attackers.”
