HUGO Langton is so fed up of watching his Horsham side lose he has threatened to pick himself if the team doesn’t win this Saturday.

Last weekend’s 5-0 humbling at Concord Rangers stretched The Hornets winless league run to 25 matches. It was also the FIFTH time this season the club has lost 5-0 and manager Langton is so desperate to turn their dire run of form around he has decided to take drastic measures.

Langton is demanding nothing less than a victory at home to Aveley this Saturday in their Ryman Premier fixture, otherwise he says he will consider picking himself for the following Tuesday’s Brighton Charity Cup game at Pagham.

“I’m 37 years old but if I have to I’ll put my boots on against Pagham and go out and show my team what it means to put in a shift,” said the former Ashford Town and Thamesmead striker, who was forced to retire from the game in his early 20s because of injury.

“I’d probably kill myself in the process, but it’s not an empty threat, I’ll put my body on the line for 45 minutes and show them how to do it.

“I’m demanding they go out on Saturday and beat Aveley, I’m sick and tired of losing, I can’t remember what it’s like to win a game of football, it’s been that long.”

Horsham prop up the table and are some 16 points off safety and seven points behind Saturday’s opponents, second bottom Aveley. If the Horsham players do respond with a win this weekend it will be their first at Gorings Mead in the league all season and Langton’s first Ryman Premier win since taking over from Justin Luchford at the end of October, a winless run spanning 17 league games.

Horsham lost the corresponding fixture at Aveley 2-1 in November.
