Horsham to submit new ground plans in ‘summer 2013’

Horsham FC chairman Kevin Borrett says the club should be ready to submit a planning application for their proposed new home by next summer.

Discussions have continued at pace to secure a deal for land at Hop Oast to the south of Horsham, and Borrett believes ‘the legal building blocks’ are in place.

He said: “Getting the legal building blocks in place for this in the right way has been absolutely vital. I’m pleased to be able to tell you that this is now the case. There are five agreements towards which we have been working.

“Four of these are ready for signature and one is the subject of final due diligence by external professionals retained by the club. All of these agreements will in turn give weight to our planning application which will be made in 2013.

“The next step is to complete the remaining due diligence over the next few weeks, sign all the agreements and announce our plans for public consultation next spring in respect of both Hop Oast and Holbrook with all interested parties. The last stage before we then submit our planning applications for both locations will be an environmental impact assessment at Hop Oast which, unfortunately, cannot take place until early summer.

“Our intention remains that these applications are submitted late summer and are heard before the end of 2013.”
