Home sweet home for Horsham

Gary Charman nodded in Horsham's first playing upfront

Second half goals from Gary Charman and Ryan Marriott made it a happy Non-League Day for Horsham with a 2-0 win over Walton Casuals which continues their fine home form.

It was a fairly even first half, although the visitors perhaps enjoyed the better of the clear cut chances, striker Charlie Ide missing a number of openings in a goalless 45 minutes.

But the Hornets were the better team thereafter and took the lead on 58 minutes when Eddie Kaboah picked out Charman with an inch perfect cross and the forward expertly nodded past Gareth Williams.

And on 77 minutes the three points were sealed when Marriott drove into the box and fired a superb shot into the far corner.

As in Tuesday’s excellent win over Sittingbourne there were again some superb individual performances, Marriott again standing out alongside central midfield partner Adam Hutchings, who seems to be improving every game, while Charlie Farmer was again solid at the heart of the defence.

And the win sees Horsham remain unbeaten at Gorings Mead in the league with ten points from a possible 12 this season - double their tally for the whole of last season - as they look to climb the Ryman South table.
