Sitting second in the Championship, eight points ahead of fourth-placed Reading, with a game in hand, Brighton's French winger feels the pressure is on the teams trying to catch the Seagulls.

He said: "I don't think we need to feel any pressure because we're second in the league.

"If you'd told me before the season that, at this point, we would be second and four points ahead of third and playing Reading and Newcastle at this moment, I would sign for it.

"I don't think the pressure is on us. The pressure is on Reading now. They should come here and think if they lose the game it's massive for them. They are behind us and if they don't win, they will be struggling (to get automatic promotion).

"We feel great. It's a home game in front of our fans and we know the atmosphere will be unbelievable and we will try everything to win the game."

Knockaert added the team are approaching the game like any other in the Championship. After Reading, Newcastle are the visitors to the Amex on Tuesday but Knockaert said: "For the media, it's two big games in the league but for us it's a normal game and a game we have to win. It's as simple as that.

"We just want three points because it's another home game and that's all our focus."
