The Albion have confirmed they will play Chelsea at The Amex as part of their pre-season – days after we revealed the club was lining up a second Premier League friendly.
The FA Cup and Champions League winners will face the Seagulls on Saturday, August 4 after initial plans to host a friendly on August 11 were deemed too close to the start of the season.
Tickets will be limited to less than 20,000 because of ongoing work increasing the capacity of the Seagulls’ home and details and prices will be released over the coming days.
Brighton are also scheduled to play Dagenham and Redbridge that day and Gus Poyet has said he will still send a team to Victoria Road.
The match will be the second pre-season in a row where Brighton have faced one of their manager’s former clubs after Tottenham Hotspur helped open The Amex last year.
