First Broadbridge Heath stoolball tournament a success

Southwater won the inaugural Broadbridge Heath Sports Club stoolball tournament on Sunday.

Five teams from Barns Green, Cranleigh, Winterfold, Broadbridge Heath and Southwater, contested the prize. And the scoring was tight it came down to runs scored throughout the day, Southwater’s 239 led the way, with Winterfold in second (205) and Barns Green third (200). Ann Tingley, of Barns Green took seven wickets, Lindsay Sheppard (76) scored the most runs, while Becky Hull (Winterfold) and Abbie Garner (Barns Green) jointly took the most catches with two each.

Sally Booker of BBH SC said: “A throughly enjoyable day was had by all and we intend to make this an annual event, from our proceeds we made a small donation to BBHCC for the use of the facilities and support they have given us in our first year in the Chanctonbury league.”
