Cricket round up: Horsham record high scoring win at Lewes

A SAM ATTFIELD century was the backbone of Horsham's high scoring win at Lewes Priory.

Horsham's stand-in skipper Craig Gallagher won the toss and inserted the hosts, and the bottom side put on 238-8 with Jonathan Aspden making 88 and Tom Sharp 67. Luke Marshall took three wickets and Matt Barry and Michael Bates grabbed two apiece.

In reply Horsham were struggling at 53-3 before Attfield - who has struggled for runs all season - went on the attack, hitting an unbeaten 102 from 119 balls. His knock included 17 fours and a six, and his partnership with Bates (67) proved the key to a much needed win by three wickets.

In Division two Pulborough drew with Bexhill. Hosts Bexhill set Boro a target of 223 for the win, Max Barson picking up five wickets.

Matt Crump (48) and Barson's (55) opening stand of 87 gave the visotrs a strong start but they fell 19 runs short of victory.

Luke Barnard's four wickets helped Roffey skittle Glynde out for 134 and in reply George Fleming and Simon Shivnarain were both 41 not out as they reached their target for the loss of three wickets.

In Division three west Scott Stratton's captain's innings of 113 from 87 balls saw Billingshurst chase down local rivals Henfield's first innings total of 225-8.

Slinfold recorded a commanding home win over Goring By Sea. Fold batted to 239 all out and made light work of their opponents, rattling through them for just 88.

Steyning's Neil Mansfield and Tim Humphries shared eight wickets to dismiss Findon for 128 and then Matt Sewell was the top scorer with 49 as they won by one wicket to continue their good form.
