World-famous stars to be show as Lashings bowl in to Horsham

World famous cricketers will bowl into town later this month as Horsham Cricket Club host the legendary Lashings All Stars XI.

The stars will be playing in a special T20 match against the club in a major fund raising event at Cricketfield Road on Wednesday, August 24, which will be free entry.

The Lashings stars – who have included the world’s top players, such as Sir Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, Muttiah Muralitharan and Allan Donald together with England notables like Devon Malcolm and Monty Panesar.

The final line-up of the superstar team will not be known until a week before the match, but a number of huge names featured for the Lashings earlier this month in a match at Worthing including Sussex and England paceman Tymal Mills.

Lashings cricket has been enticing large crowds for more than 30 years, raising money for sports related charities and the a corporate lunch will showcase a varied programme of entertainment, including an auction and a sponsored raffle with substantial prizes.

Their players will be running coaching sessions for the juniors from 11am, followed by a colts challenge match between Horsham and West Chiltington.

Cricket continues with the Lashings match at 4pm, culminating in the closing awards ceremony at 7.30pm.

There will be entertainment around the ground featuring a corporate lunch, fair ground activities, catering and bar facilities.

The lunch will be provided in a marquee on the boundary edge with guests being introduced to the Lashings players from 12.30pm.

Organiser Colin Mitcham, Horsham CC treasurer, said: “We’ll be providing an attractive hospitality facility and have a range of packages available for local companies to invite their guests to join them for a convivial lunch on their own dedicated reserved tables.

“Wine is included and there will be a pay bar for additional refreshments. Individual places for lunch are available at £40 a head, including a donation to HCC.

“Companies can also advertise in the match programme at modest cost and we’ll have a private seating area outside the marquee for guests to watch the match in comfort. So we look forward to welcoming guests for this outstanding day at the club!”
