Warwickshire have made a solid reply with the bat at Horsham to end day two on 163-3 after Sussex had frustrated their opponents this morning.

Jonathan Trott (62) and Varun Chopra (81) put on a 125-partnership after Warwickshire were reduced to 30-2 after lunch in the County Championship clash.

Steve Magoffin (1-31) claimed the early scalp of Ian Westwood (two), who was caught at first slip by Chris Jordan, before Will Porterfield (12) clipped one down the leg-side from Lewis Hatchett, which went behind to wicketkeeper Ben Brown.

But a resilient showing from Trott, who was dropped by Brown on 58, and opening batsman Chopra has set Warwickshire up nicely.

Chopra was caught behind by Brown, off Hatchett (2-39), to reduce Warwickshire to 155-3.

Sam Hain (four) was dropped by Ed Joyce on three late on as Warwickshire closed on at stumps 250 runs behind.

With the ball, Chris Jordan finished with figures of 0-56 and James Tredwell with 0-28.

Ben Brown and James Tredwell had resumed for Sussex this morning and put on an eighth-wicket stand of 71 as the Sussex lower-order frustrated their opponents.

Tredwell was caught behind by Tim Ambrose for 33, but Brown batted on with Steve Magoffin to take Sussex to 407-8 at lunch.

Brown failed to make a half century as he was out lbw to Boyd Rankin for 48 and the Warwickshire man disposed of Lews Hatchett as Sussex were all out for 413.
