Tim Parsons became Henfield’s all-time highest wicket-taker on Saturday, breaking a record which had stood since 1977.
The off break bowler claimed the five wickets he needed against Ansty to break Percy Groves’ long-standing record of 1,830, much to the celebration of his team-mates.
“When Tim took the last wicket to move on to 1,831 for the club we all went a bit mad and even the opposition were great,” fellow player Chris Crampton said.
“We knew what the record was and have been counting down for some time and it was great to see him get it.”
Parsons has been at Henfield since 1971 and this season he already has 41 wickets with best figures of 7-17 for the Thirds.
