Sussex Sharks will look to regain their place at the summit of Group C in the Clydesdale Bank 40 this evening (Wednesday August 8) when they travel to Derby to take on Derbyshire Falcons in a floodlit affair (4.40pm start).

The Sharks are still unbeaten in the competition and lie only a point behind Warwickshire Bears in the table, who they will host at The PROBIZ County Ground, Hove next week in a mouthwatering clash.

Sussex’s last outing in the competition saw them beat Northamptonshire Steelbacks by eight wickets at Arundel Castle, as Chris Liddle took four wickets and Murray Goodwin hit an unbeaten 67.

Luke Wright misses out this evening due to a back injury and is replaced in the squad by Naveed Arif Gondal.

Ed Joyce will lead the side as he took over the captaincy in both CB40 and LV=County Championship cricket from Michael Yardy last week, whilst Matt Prior remains involved with the England setup during the Test series with South Africa.

The Sussex squad is as follows:

Amjad Khan

WAT Beer

BC Brown (wkt)

JS Gatting

MW Goodwin

Naveed Arif Gondal

EC Joyce (c)

CJ Liddle

MW Machan

CD Nash

MS Panesar

KO Wernars

MH Yardy
