STEYNING CC are hoping young batsman Hywel Jones can provide the answer to the batting woes they suffered at Bognor Regis on Saturday.
Ed Lamb’s side suffered a 34 run defeat as they collapsed to 90 all out, chasing 124, and their skipper believes Jones’ expected return for next week’s game at home to Arundel could br crucial to their fortunes.
“We only needed one partnership (against Bognor), and myself and Matt (Sewell, 30) almost got one started,” Lamb said.
“We didn’t get the runs we should have done.
“It’s frustrating, but we have Hywel back next week and we can build our batting round him.
“We have just got to be positive that we bowled a good side out rather than worrying about being bowled out for 90.”
