Steyning CC captain Ed lamb saluted his young batsmen after a stunning ten wicket defeat of Pagham in Division 3 West of the Sussex Cricket League.

Lamb’s side went third in the table with a superb display. Luke Chapman, Matheesha Ranasinghe and Andy Isaacs helped themselves to three wickets each as as Pagham were dismissed for 180.

William Rolls offered doughty resistance with the bat as he struck 42, while Billy Turner-Hogg added 31.

But Lamb’s side moved into top gear, as Matt Sewell (107 not out) and Sam Grant (62 not out) did the damange with the bat, hitting the Pagham attack to all parts - Sewell hit three sixes in a row at one point.

Skipper Lamb said: “It was nice that the young lads dominated. Matt is 21 now but played his first game for us at 14 so you could say he’s quite experienced!

“Sam is only 16 and they were both on 48 before Matt seemed to take over”.
