DANNY Humphreys and Johann Brouwer shared a superb 129 run stand to set up Southwater’s Mirfield Cup victory on Tuesday evening.
Humphreys (80) and Brouwer (60) dominated the Wisborough Green attack to post a mammoth 182-3 in the 53rd final of the annual competition.
Late Horsham CC president Dr John Dew created the Mirfield Cup for local teams, and the 15 eight ball overs format was an exciting forerunner to Twenty20 cricket.
And Wisborough, runaway leaders of the West Sussex Invitation League, were always struggling and could only reach 129 in reply.
Southwater’s Mirfield captain Nick Baker said: “Danny and Johann were outstanding, they got off to a flier and I cannot praise them enough.
“Then the bowling was outstanding, to put the effort in they did. And our boundary fielding was spot on. It was brilliant fun.”
