Horsham prevailed by nine wickets in a corker of a game at home to Cuckfield on Saturday, with Ben Shoare’s century stealing the show.
Opponents Cuckfield had earlier been put in to bat, and were 128-2 when Sussex player Steffan Piolet was removed by Will Beer (3-35) for 53.
Nicholas Beard was undeterred, and fell just short of a century – eventually caught behind off Michael Munday (3-54) for 97.
Cuckfield finished on 217 all out, with Travis Muller (4-41) doing a fair share of the damage for Horsham.
Horsham’s response was resounding as Shoare made an unbeaten century before the first wicket fell after 173 runs, with John Burroughs heading back to the pavilion for 66.
Beer made a swift 32 not out to see Horsham home in 50.4 overs.
