Roffey got their title defence up and running with a seven-wicket win on a difficult Brighton & Hove track.
Captain Josh Fleming hailed some tight lines from his bowlers as they piled on the pressure to restrict Brighton to 180-9 after the home side won the toss and opted to bat.
Jordan Rollings’ 70 was the top score after Rohit Jagota (2-36) and Leigh Harrison (1-16) had reduced them to 20-3.
Chris Atherton added 21 and Waheed Safi made an unbeaten 16, but when Rollings was caught off Dan Smith (3-57), the hosts were soon all out.
Mike Norris (72) and Jagota (61*) then saw Roffey home with 184-3 in 41.2 overs.
Fleming said: “It was pretty comfortable, but probably not quite as much as the result suggests as they bowled well, but Rohit came in and got away from them in the end.
“A couple of half chances went down from us, but we kept on top of them and bowled pretty well on a difficult track to bat on. We bowled pretty well up top and created a lot of pressure so that no-one could get away.”
Openers Fleming (19) and Theodore Rivers (eight) weathered an early storm facing 73 and 32 deliveries respectively. A third-wicket stand of 107 from Norris and Jagota all but saw them home – although the former was caught before hiting the match-winning runs.
Fleming added: “I struggled away in there for a while and Brighton bowled well on a difficult track, but we dug in. Me and Mike Norris started with a partnership, before Rohit came in and did what he does and made it look easy.
“We wanted to get off the mark after a disappointing first week, but it’s good to get a win and hopefully we can build on it.”
Roffey are at early pace setters Cuckfield on Saturday.
