Roffey dealt a blow to Horsham’s Sussex Premier League title aspirations with dramatic one run victory at their neighbours Cricketfield Road home.
The match was reduced to 100 overs rules following a delayed start, and inserted into bat, Roffey made a modest 167-9 from their 53 overs, Theo Rivers top scoring with 54 while the league’s leading wicket-taker Michael Munday took 6-49.
In reply the hosts also struggled with the bat, although knocks of 38 and 35 from John Burroughs and Owain Jones, and a rapid 30 from Sam Bell at number ten saw the match go to the wire before Horsham were bowled out for 166, just one short of Roffey’s total.
Abdul Khan took four wickets as Roffey beat their neighbours for the second time this season to knock them off the top of the Premier League.
Preston Nomads beat Bexhill to regain top spot, although Hastings’ defeat to Brighton and Hove sees them down in fourth, with Roffey now up to third.
