Luke Wright has been named in the Sussex squad to take on Somerset in the County Championship, starting at Horsham tomorrow (Wednesday, 11am start).

The big-hitting right hander is back following a stint with Pune Warriors in the IPL and could make his first appearance for Sussex this season.

Chris Nash will step in and skipper the side on his home ground for the Horsham Festival games against Somerset and then Kent Spitfires in the YB40 on Sunday, with Ed Joyce away with Ireland. Fellow Horsham player Will Beer is expected to come into the squad for the one-day game.

Matt Machan is added to the squad but Andy Miller is ruled out after picking up a hand injury in Monday’s YB40 match with the Netherlands.

Matt Prior remains with the England side for their Test Series against New Zealand.

Sussex are nicely placed in the Division One table, lying only 15 points off the summit with a game in hand over the three sides above them.

In last week’s game at Derbyshire where Sussex triumphed by nine wickets, Michael Yardy (153) and Chris Jordan (92) led with the bat whilst Steve Magoffin picked up four wickets in the second innings.

Full Sussex squad:

JE Anyon, BC Brown (wkt), JS Gatting, RJ Hamilton-Brown, CJ Jordan, CJ Liddle, MW Machan, SJ Magoffin, CD Nash (capt), MS Panesar, LWP Wells, LJ Wright, MH Yardy.
