Division 4 leaders Steyning suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday as they went down to local rivals Portslade by five wickets.
Steyning captain Dave Kennett had no qualms with the result, which was the first time this season in a full match that his side have failed to take maximum points.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat, Steyning’s Owain Jones (41), Ben Shelford (28) and Gary Hunt (26 not out) helped them along to 156 in 48.2 overs.
In reply, an opening stand of 99 between Ian Morley (24) and Paul Glover (67) set them on the way as they chased the total down with 157-5.
Kennett said: “It was disappointing to lose our unbeaten run, but we have no complaints as Portslade were better on the day and we just didn’t turn up.
“We still have a nice gap at the top so we not too concerned. I’ll be looking for a response from my team this week when we entertain Henfield and look to bounce back.”
