Horsham Cricket Club will go into this weekend’s T20 National group Finals day determined to make an impact.
Craig Gallagher’s men eanred the right to play Wimbledon for a place in the last eight of the club competition with a nail-biting four run defeat of Bexhill on Sunday to lift the Grey Nicholls Sussex Cup for the 12th time.
Now they must overcome Surrey champions Wimbledon at Hursley Park in Hampshire on Sunday to progress, and skipper Gallagher said he plans on fielding a strong team.
He commented: “The players are really up for it, but it is going to be very tough against a very good side. They have some naturalised Australian players so it is going to be a difficult game.” Horsham will be without their Sussex leg-spinner Will Beer, who is expected to be on county duty, so Rob Woolley will come in.
“It’s T20 cricket,” Gallagher said. “As we saw on Sunday anything can happen, so we will see how it goes.” Should Horsham win they face the winners of the Southern and Kent Leagues clash.
