Henfield CC captain Brett Moore said he could not take any satisfaction from a win which relegated Seaford from the Sussex Cricket League Division 3 East.

In a final day scramble to avoid the drop into the East Sussex League, four teams were within striking distance of bottom-placed Seaford, and with Henfield among them, a win was imperative against the basement side.

So, when Vincec (50) and Culver (66) helped Brett Moore’s side post a competitive 213-8 on a difficult surface, the job was half complete. Jack Parsons then took 4-46 to dismiss Seaford for 159 and condemn them to relegation.

Moore said: “I don’t take any satisfaction at all from sending them down. I really like their skpper (Oliver Smith) It showed how much it meant to everyone by seeing how devastated they were afterwards. It’s not really that much of a big deal, we don’t get paid to play at this level, but everyone wants to play in this league and you could see how much it meant to both sides.”
