Greenway Primary School continued a tradition of sporting excellence by winning all the events at this year’s Horsham District Asda Kwik Cricket Competitions.
They won the year 6 girls, Year 6 Mixed and the Years 4&5 Mixed tournaments to confirm their dominance in the area in this new form of the sport wich has been specially adapted to be suitable for primary school aged kids.
In the Girls only competition Greenway A won, beating runners-up Billingshurst in the final with Greenway’s C team a creditable third.
Their Boys team also won their tournament, beating St John’s in the final with Plaistow in third place.
Yesterday (Wednesday) the years 4 & 5 events were played at Horsham cricket Club with Greenway completing their clean sweep by beating runners-up Loxwood and third placed St Mary’s Pulborough.
All the winners and runner-up teams now progress through to the County final to be held at the Sussex Academy ground at Blackstone in Henfield.
Organiser John Burroughs of Horsham Leisure Link said: “Greenway have a great commitment to sporting excellence and have developed a great set-up at their school by going into partnership with Horsham Trinity Cricket Club, who have training nets based at the school.
“They have won the Horsham and County finals several times and even progressed through to the Regional finals and won those too. In fact they have reached the National Finals twice in the last four years. Congratulations to Greenway!”
