HENFIELD were left to rue two key run outs in their four wicket defeat to Billingshurst in the Sussex Cricket League on Saturday.
Mark Hopgood and Rob Slaughter were both run out in farcical circumstances as henfield were dismissed for 90, and although Billingshurst struggled slightly, reached their target with plenty in reserve.
Henfield skipper Brett Moore said: “I’m disappointed with the display. We didn’t get over those early run outs.”
A gritty unbeaten 45 from Pete Burroughs was Billingshurst’s key contribution in the successful chase - even though skipper Mike Burroughs conceded his side too a few too many risks with such a small target.
He said: “We needed someone to grind it out with the bat and Pete did that - we were a bit too extravagant at times.”
