Boxer Pringle begins 2012 with a bang

WELTERWEIGHT Ben Pringle claimed a good points win to kick off 2012 in style for Horsham ABC.

Pringle overcame Crawley’s Will Kear in what was a comfortable win in Eastbourne, despite being struck by an illegal low blow in the lively opening round which almost lifted the Horsham man off his feet.

Meanwhile, Horsham ABC youngster Bradley Parsons did well to see off the experienced Zak Ealey, from Poole. Parsons made a good start despite the difference in experience, and boxed well behind his southpaw jab. A points deduction against Ealey for use of his head helped the 14-year-old’s cause, and he managed to hang on for a well deserved points win.

And also last weekend, junior Harry Orsini travelled to Farnham to take on Guildford City’s Jimmy Smith.

Surrey puncher Smith looked very well schooled in the opening round and Orsini did well to stay with him. Harry gathered his composure and had a great third round but it wasn’t enough and he lost a unanimous points decision. The referee asked the crowd to show extra appreciation for both the boxers for such a hard fought bout.

Pringle is in action again this weekend, boxing alongside fellow Horsham fighters Armani Smith and Ben Mann in Havant.
