Big turnout for Horsham 10k
HORSHAM Joggers settled for third and second team prizes in the Horsham 10k race on Sunday.
A total of 396 competitors followed the two lap course starting from the Horsham Rugby Club in the latest round of the Sussex Grand Prix series, organised jointly by Horsham Joggers and Horsham Lions.
First to cross the line with a stunning 3 minute 26 second lead was James Baker from Chichester Runners, making this challenging course look easy with a time of 32:30.
Second place went to David Bradford in 35:56 and in third place was his brother Matt in 36:04, both from Lewes AC.
First Lady to finish, in fifth place overall, was Katy Moore of Brighton & Hove AC in 36:25, with Sam Alvarez in second place in 38:45 and Gill Wheeler in third place in 38:54, both from Hailsham Harriers.
The Men's Team prize went to Lewes AC, with the second place going to Chichester Runners and Horsham Joggers in third place.
The Ladies Team prize was won by Hailsham Harriers, followed by Horsham Joggers in second place.
Representing Horsham Joggers were Bryan Camfield in 37:53, Steve Wigmore 38:19, Keith Valentine took first place in his age category for the fifth race in row in 39:00, Tony Frankland 39:39, first Horsham lady home was Lou Collings 40:10, Jason Walker 40:45, Adrian Klingersberg 43:36, Alan Pettitt 43:45, Keith Ayres 44:45, Raff Vitale 45:23, Alistair Coyle 47:17, Ruth Shannon 47:31, Rob Harris 48:17, Neil Edmonds 48:48, Geoffrey Parker 48:58, Leigh Clarke crossed the line together with Zoe Tetlow 49:01, Angela Rainham 49:56, Mark Bolton 55:46 and Adam de Frateschi 56:58.
The children's race results were as follows: The overall girls winner and also the winner of the U14 girls was Amy Nash, U12 Chloe Billingham, U10 India Froud and U8 Holly Morris.
Winner of the boys overall was a tie between Griffin Shiel and Daniel Pettitt. Daniel Pettitt also won the U14 boys, U12 Marcus Ramage, U10 James Haddon and U8 Toby Rawlings.
