Andrews ban a 'bullet' for Hornets

HORSHAM captain Ben Andrews will miss the FA Cup tie at Folkestone Invicta next week, serving a suspension which boss John Maggs has likened to holding a gun to the head of the club.

Andrews was dismissed during Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Wealdstone for two bookable offences, ruling him out of the tricky First Round Qualifying tie in Kent.

A sliding tackle earned Andrews his first yellow card at Wealdstone, and the second arrived with 20 minutes to play after he reacted angrily to an awful challenge from Scott Fitzgerald.

Maggs said: "That is like putting a bullet to the head of the club. We wanted Ben for the Folkestone tie in the FA Cup.

"The club relies heavily on the FA Cup to boost finances, and we are lessening our chances of getting that kind of boost if we are not able to field our strongest side. It is a big blow. The club wants to get as much as it can from something like this."
