A DRAMATIC finale saw Steyning hold Division 2 leaders Bexhill to an enthralling draw.

Going into the final over, all three results were possible, Steyning needed two more wickets for the win and Bexhill 14 runs.

The accurate Ian Simpson was charged with sending down the tense last six balls, and although he claimed two victims, one with the last delivery of the innings, neither side could force a result.

It could have been a different story for the home side however as in the penultimate over Owain Jones shelled a chance in the deep when he collided with a teammate.

Skipper Andy Stillwell commented: "It was a good game of cricket.
"They fancied a chase and I think we batted alright, we thought 225 was a decent total, Nick and Matt batted well.

"We didn't bowl all that well at the start though there were too many loose balls and we were always pulling the game back, but probably for a dropped catch we would have won it."
