TWO SWIMMERS are set for their a testing debut at the National Finals over the next two weeks.

Cameron Lambourne and Katy Harris, both swimmers at Horsham's Atlantis club, based at the Pavilions in the Park, have reached the required qualifying time in multiple events, which puts them in the top 25 for their group in the country.

Harris, 14, will compete in the 14-15 age group in the shortcourse (25 metre pool) 100m and 200m backstrokes, snuck into the finals in Sheffield courtesy of her times of 1min 7.22 secs (100m) and 2mins 23.89secs (200m).

Lambourne swims in the long course (50m pool) 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m freestyles, and says he qualified 'comfortably' for them, setting a time of 2mins 13.11secs in his favoured 200m.

Coach Bill Penney said: "It's a stepping stone along the way for them. For the first time they will be just getting a feel for it. If they can carry on they will develop new friendships from the nationals and generate friendly rivalry and competition.
"There is potential here for more swimmers to compete at the nationals but they will have to put the effort in."
