Southwater delight at title

VICE captain Dan Humphreys saluted his team's all round display after Southwater clinched the Division 2 title in style with an eight wicket defeat of Eastergate.

The victory meant Southwater took the title with a week of the season remaining, and move into Division 1 for the first time in their history.

Liam Hume played a match winning knock of 83 not out as Southwater chased down 169, while Johann Brouwer added 41 and claimed four Eastergate wickets.

"It's a fantastic feeling," Humphreys said. "We have been knocking on the door for the last three or four years, and never managed to get there. It's a massive achievement.

"Everyone was over the moon on Saturday, and to get to the total as comfortably as we did made it so easy.
