Horsham still face nervous wait

HORSHAM cricket club set an unwanted record at the weekend, and still face an outside prospect of relegation.
Any one of three clubs could win the Sussex Premier League title with two weeks to go.
Pacesetters Preston Nomads suffered a surprise defeat at home to Brighton and Hove on Saturday while Eastbourne enjoyed an impressive home win against Chichester, Hastings had a free week.
Runs were hard to come by at Fulking where Brighton and Hove were dismissed for 158 by Preston Nomads.
Skipper Patrick Spencer made 40 and Chris Grammer 38 as Kashif Ibrahim took 4/52.
But is was the left-arm new ball bowling from Matt Wood and Sussex pro Chris Liddle that won the game for the visitors.
Wood took 7/18 and Liddle 3/19 to send Nomads crashing to 116 all out and their third defeat of the season, Aaron Phillips with 28 was top scorer.
Eastbourne kept their title hopes alive with a five wicket home win against Chichester who now, realistically, need to win their last two games to avoid relegation.
Chichester were dismissed for 167 as Tom Smith took 5/40 and Stuart Faith 4/35, Aussie Tim Bishop with 70 was top scorer for the visitors.
Ben Brown then hit 55, Londis Lewis 50 not out and Stuart Faith 32 to see Eastbourne home at 170/5.
Three Bridges banished any relegation worries with a 109 run win at home to a below strength Horsham who will be playing close attention to the last two games played by Chichester.
Horsham have now lost a staggering seven of the 16 games they have started, more than they have ever previously lost in a Premier League season,
Bridges raced to 250/6 declared after being put in and then bowled out their visitors for just 141 of which Mark Nash, coming in at number eight, hit 59 as Paul Smith took 5/47 and Danny Alderman 4/34.
Stirlands tumbled to a seven wicket defeat at Cuckfield to seal certain relegation.
Sean Heather made 25 and Nathan Ball 22 in an all out score of 124 as Nick Walters took 6/42 and Ben Collins 4/40.
James Thorpe then made 43 not out and Tom Mole 42 to take Cuckfield home at 125/3 from 35 overs, Nathan Ball took 2/35.
It is a very open race for the two promotion places from Division Two. Four of the top five all won on Saturday but it was the home win by Lewes against Littlehampton that could prove decisive.
Lewes now lead Haywards Heath by 14 points with Roffey 11 further adrift and Bexhill a further four behind, they lead Littlehampton by three points.
Lewes should ensure promotion if they win one of their two remaining games, at home to Roffey on Saturday and at Worthing in their final game.
Sidley will be playing regional third division cricket next season and they will be joined by one of Steyning, Worthing, St.James and Pulborough.
Runs were at a Premium at the Stanley Turner ground where Lewes Priory were put in to bat by visitors and promotion rivals Littlehampton.
Jonathan Aspden with just 30 was top scorer in a Lewes total of 109 all out as Benn Challen took 3/12 and Luke Vinter 3/24.
But the visitors fared even worse and crashed to 63 all out as Simon Allan took 6/15, including a hat-trick, Josh Burrows 3/26.
Haywards Heath had to battle for victory at home to Steyning after being put in and held to 213/7 declared.
Skipper Steve Kingcome made 41, George Martin 30 and Joe Mennie 28 but is was a League best down the order from Steve Gould that set the target, he made 45.
Andy Stillwell led the Steyning Challenge with 81 and with his team at 142/3 it looked as of victory would go their way.
But the last seven wickets fell for 20 when Hayden James returned to the attack and the one time Boland paceman took 6/49 to reduce Steyning to 161 all out, spinner Simon Teasdale waded in with 3 for 33.
Bexhill kept their promotion hopes alive with a 44 run win at home to St.James who could still be threatened with relegation.
Bexhill made 238/7 declared, Ashley Wright, brother of Luke, hit 87 as George Taylor took 3/48.
St.James fell short at 194 all out with England Under-16 wicketkeeper Adam Davies making 63 and Kris Johnson 40.The pick of the home bowlers was Ian Ellis, he took 3/13.
Roffey, too, remain in the promotion shake up after wickets fell with gay abandon in their home game with Worthing.
Worthing were dismissed for 81 Aussie Sam Adams took 6/34. But then a hat-trick from Andy Lutwyche gave Roffey a few frights before they won at 82/9, Lutwyche taking 4/16.
The relegation of Sidley to Division Three East was confirmed when they lost their 13th game of the campaign, this time by 64 runs at Pulborough.
The home side made 219/6 declared of which Tom Crump hit 91 and Lee Callaghan 42 not out.
Sidley were bowled out for 155 despite 48 from Brad Holt, Lee Callaghan took 5/35 and Matt Crump 4/28.
Middleton won their 12th game of the season at home to Bognor on Saturday having led the table all season.
Batting first the home side made 203/6 declared with 65 from Steve Collins and 50 not out from Ed Towner.
They then dismissed Bognor for 184 to win by 19 runs with Mark Carroll their hero with the ball in taking 8/60.
Pagham enjoyed a four wicket triumph at Findon after bowling out the home side for just 131, Will Green taking 5/25. The visitors reached their target at 132/6 despite Toby Kingsbury taking 5/35.
Slinfold have enjoyed an inconsistent season but were impressive in a 48 run victory at Henfield after posting 201/8 declared. In that total their leading scorer Jon Augustus hit 70 as Mo Samad took 4/34.
Henfield were then dismissed for 153 despite 61 from Dave Mann, Tom Filby grabbed 4/42.
Goring batted well to win at home to Billingshurst by 47 runs after making 235 for 4 declared after being put in.
Dan Pitham hit 68 and Sam Botham 75 in that score before Billingshurst fell short at 188 all out with John Burrows making 47, Sam Botham completed good day personally, he took 4/19.
