HORSHAM centre back Eddie French suffered an horrific injury in last night's 2-1 win against Staines Town.

The gloss of the win was taken off when French went down in an innocuous tackle and is suspected to have suffered a double ankle fracture.

Manager John Maggs said: "Sam Page and Eddie French are like Tom and Jerry, they are a partnership, and losing Eddie will be a massive blow for us, he'll be out for a long long time."

"Eddie for me is a diamond, he's been my player of the year for about the last three years, he's a gent off the pitch and the most committed player on the pitch. I'm gutted for him.

"I'll have to look at it (bringing someone else in) because I cant do with just the two centre halves. Andy has just come back from injury himself and he did very well tonight when he came on."
