HORSHAM Cricket Club recovered from a middle order slump to record a three wicket win on the opening day of the season.

Newly promoted side Stirlands put up a brave fight after being reduced to 11/2, as skipper Sean Heather reached 91 in their total of 187/8.

Horsham made a steady start in reply, but things started to go wrong when they lost captain Howard Kasey to go 76/2. That sparked a collapse which saw Paul Gallagher, Luke Marshall, Will Beer and Devon Endersby dismissed as Horsham slumped to 85/6.

But Andrew Hillman guided the home side over the finish line, thanks to support from Mark Nash and Matt Simpson.

See next week's County Times for report and reaction.
