HORNETS captain Sam Page admits he is surprised but excited at the prospect of a move to a league club.

The towering 6ft, 5ins centre back signed for Horsham last June after being released by MK Dons, and has made no secret of his desire to return to the Football League.

An unnamed club has shown an interest in Page, 21, who only signed a new one year deal at Horsham at the end of last month.

Any deal would have to be put on ice until later this month, when Hornets boss John Maggs returns from holiday. Horsham would receive a fee for Page as a contracted player.
Page himself admits the interest has taken him aback. "John rang me up just before he went away to say he had an approach," Page recalled.

"A few clubs had watched me last year and one particular club has made an official approach.

"Not a lot can be done at the moment, when John comes back we are going to have another chat.

"I said at the start of last season that my ambition was to get back into the league, but I am a bit surprised it has happened now.
"I have had a number of injuries and have not played how I would want to play. It is surprising that a club has come in for me, considering I am not really on form.
