THE 'WILL he, won't he' saga surrounding Horsham's overseas player was set to come to an end today.
Ansar Javed was expected to arrive at Heathrow Airport from Pakistan on a 3pm flight, bringing an end to weeks of frustration at Cricketfield Road, as communication proved tough.
The fast bowler has already missed two league matches so far this
season, and correspondence between the player and club has only come in the form of e-mails and text messages from friends.
The club, however were optimistic that his long awaited arrival was to be concluded.
Last week, Horsham chairman of selectors Richard Marshall vented his frustration with the lack of communication with the player who they had hoped to have in place well before the start of the campaign.
Marshall remarked: "We are hoping it will be a happy ending and he will be a very good bowler and get us near the top of the league.
"Looking at the stats in the Pakistani league he looks a quality player, I think we have got a good one but it's just the frustration of not being fed with information.
"We haven't decided what will happen if he doesn't turn up, although we have good youngsters like Alex Harding and Joe Clarke who are making a name for themselves and have played a few games already, but Ansar has played first class cricket so obviously has the edge."
