Horsham basketball team claim first win

HORSHAM Hawks under-11s swooped on a narrow first win in the Sussex Youth Basketball League, thanks to a helpful ruling.

The first half against Worthing was closely played by both teams although despite four baskets spread among the team, the Hawks ended up 8-18 down at half time.

In the third quarter the Hawks settled down and reduced the gap to eight points, as they reduced Worthing to just two baskets.

The final quarter saw Worthing score 12 points without reply until David scored a basket from the free throw line giving a score of 15-34.

With the youth rules as they are Horsham were awarded 20 points due to the reduced number of Worthing players, giving the Hawks a 35-34 win, their first in the league this season.
